Fishing in Scotland.
What a lovely idea !
There is reservoir fishing at
Glengavel ( about 15 minutes drive) from your holiday
accommodation. Own rods and equipment are needed though. Glengavel
reservoir has brown trout fishing, March 15th to September 30th. There
is 57 acres of water surrounded by beautiful countryside. Boats are
available for hire. Fly fishing only.
The scenery there is out of this world, especially during the summer
months !!
There are two other large fisheries within a short drive from your
lodge,
Quarter Fishery, near
Hamilton and
Arran Fishery, near
Galston.
Suitable for all ages. I've found them very helpful in dealing with
people, especially children, who want to try fishing for the first time.
Rods and equipment can be hired.
There are also many rivers in the area. Details are available in the
information books in the Lodge. Fishing permits are available from
Strathaven.
The sea is 30 minutes to
Irvine and 50 minutes to
Ayr.
There is lots of fresh water fishing available in the area with fishing
permits able to be purchased in
Strathaven.
