Family fun

Family fun while staying at Drumboy Lodge !!

There are many walks, both in the immediate area, local, and further a field, that will suit any level of ability, and length of time you wish to walk. The Irvine Valley (the area around Loudounhill) has 11 documented walks, ranging from The William Wallace Path (1/3 of a mile - right on your doorstep!) to the Irvine Valley Trail which is around 9.5 miles. Loudounhill itself is only a short walk from your door, and most of our quests make it their personal challenge to climb it during their stay !!

There is a beach in Irvine (next to the Magnum Centre) and a much larger one in Ayr, which has an outside adventure play area next to it with crazy golf and amusements for the children.

There is also fishing within a short drive at Arran View Fishery, and Quarter Fishery, if you want to try something new.

There is also the Dean Castle Country Park in Kilmarnock which has something for everyone.

The Heads of Ayr Farm Park is a must for families with children with many kinds of animals and quad bikes along with many other things to keep everyone entertained for the whole day.

Quad bikes and Moto X can usually be seen throughout the year at a farm only a 5 minute drive away and horse competitions can also be seen locally.

We also have a family theme park within a short car journey from the Lodge called M & D's Theme Park (Hamilton), where you can have hours of fun.

There is also Newmilns Snow and Sports Complex and another full 'snow experience' in Escape in Glasgow, if you fancy something a little different. You will have no problems passing the time !

For the rainy days there is Strathaven Leisure Centre which has a small swimming pool and is stacked full of equipment and runs many different types of sports classes during the week. Hamilton Water Palace has a large swimming pool and another 'adventure pool' where you can spend hours of fun.

There are also cinemas, shops, and 10 pin bowling in Hamilton, East Kilbride and Kilmarnock (all a 30 minutes drive) and Ayr (a 50 minutes drive).

Boat trips are proving to be very popular with our guests, to the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig ( a dormant volcano arising from the sea). You can also take a boat trip to Millport, and hire bikes, and cycle the 10 miles round the island !!! (Don't panic - Millport is almost flat !!)

And so much more !!
There is detailed information within the lodge on all activities and days out.

Examples of things to do to entertain you !!!       You will never be bored !!
